Talk it through with the SI guide

Not a crisis service

Who James is

Nearly twenty years recruiting across travel, aviation, hospitality and MICE, watching industries change shape around the people inside them. This guide speaks in his words. It is not James, and it is not a person. Read more about James

The basics

Nobody taught most of us how to read a change at work before it is announced. We were assumed to know.

Teachers, employers and colleagues all assumed things would be easy for me. Every one of those assumptions was wrong. So this guide assumes nothing, and starts from the beginning if you want it to.

What this guide is for

Readiness, not repair. It is for the man still in the role, who can see it coming. It helps you put what you have noticed into words and think about one next move. It does not forecast, give legal or financial advice, or find you work.

Why it is rarely one problem

The job is rarely separate from the sleep, the drinking, or the body that has been carrying both. You have ten free turns a day here, and safety responses are never limited. Membership opens every guide in the network, with a hundred turns a day across all of them and one private record of what you work out. See what membership includes

Safety, for this guide

If the job has already gone or the money has stopped, this is the wrong guide, and the safety page lists where to go. It will not review a contract or tell you whether to accept an offer. If pressure at work has turned into thoughts of harming yourself, stop here and get help.

When you are ready: what have you noticed at work that nobody has said out loud yet?
